STUDIO ID is a boutique interior design firm committed to creating warm contemporary environments from urban residences to historic homes and country estates to commercial spaces. The STUDIO ID team weaves a sophisticated mix of modern elements into beautiful, bespoke, minimalist interiors reflective of the client’s vision, goals and lifestyle.
We practice a hands-on approach to each project through a collaborative relationship between the principal designers, project teams and clients. With services tailored to clients’ needs, we bring a wealth of resources to each project from concept development to implementation. Whether a gut renovation or decorative refresh, the STUDIO team transforms and elevates spaces.
Founded in New York City in 2008, STUDIO ID is based both in downtown Manhattan and New Orleans. The founders’ paths crossed during their graduate studies at Parsons The New School for Design. With a shared drive for timeless contemporary design and passion for architectural detail, the STUDIO ID partnership was born.
Christa Frey, co-founder and principal
Christa Frey transitioned to her design career after spending a decade in global telecommunications following graduate studies at Parsons The New School for Design where she earned her AAS degree. Building on a foundation in residential interior design, Christa worked with renowned Jamie Drake of Drake Anderson before founding her design practice.
Christa embraces a zest for travel, arts and culture. Originally from Houston, she has lived in Paris, London, Atlanta and San Francisco before calling NYC home with her family. Christa’s love for European culture and regular global travels shape her perspective and international style. Her point-of-view draws inspiration from iconic modernists balanced with organic forms and materials. These elements reflect the serene sophistication in her nuanced modern designs.
Christa Schwartz, co-founder and principal
Christa Schwartz creates timeless, polished and livable interiors. Influenced by her work in the fashion industry, Christa successfully combines her technical knowledge with an instinct for refined, modern design.
Between her studies at Parsons The New School for Design and prior to launching her design studio, Christa joined a global commercial project team in the interiors division of the award winning architecture firm Skidmore Owings and Merrill.
After living and working in New York City for 12 years, Christa relocated with her family to New Orleans and has put roots down in a city rich with historic architecture. Leading the NOLA office and design practice, Christa maintains a fundamental respect for the city’s history while infusing it with her design style and energy.
